Had a few trees taken down today, thanks to the crew at TreeMasters. One was a fairly old black oak that I’m going to have sawn into lumber. 44″ at the base, most of the bolle is around 24″ in diameter.
I was very happy with the job the crew did. We get so much more light in the house now. I wish we’d done it years ago.

You ought to get some fantastic lumber out of that black oak butt log.

Yup, I’m really excited! Nice tight growth rings, centered pith, no evidence of issues.
Is there anything I should do to the log while waiting for the mill to arrive? Paint the ends maybe?
